When should illustration services involve challenging the client’s first concept? I wonder because an illustrator may notice problems with balance, readability, or visual storytelling that the client cannot see. How should those concerns be explained without creating conflict? What happens when the client strongly prefers the original idea? What honest advice would experienced designers give about finding a useful middle ground between expertise and creative direction?
