I’ve spotted a 2012 ML350 going for a tempting price and I keep driving past it on my way home, slowly convincing myself it’s a good idea. The seller says it’s been well looked after and it does look tidy in the photos, but I’ve been warned that older Mercs can be lovely on the surface and a nightmare underneath. A friend told me to just click here and read up on what a proper check involves before I get too attached, so I did, and now I’m second guessing whether I should even bother with a car this age. Part of me thinks a specialist inspection is overkill for something at this price, the other part remembers my last used car purchase ended badly. Has anyone bought an older ML and was an inspection actually worth it, or did you just accept that older cars come with risks?
