So my 520i has started making this faint ticking sound for the first minute or two after a cold start, and of course it disappears by the time I get to work so I keep second guessing myself. The car still pulls fine and there are no warning lights, but I don’t want to wait until something bigger lets go. I’m not keen on the dealer quote I got just for a look, so I’ve been asking around for a workshop that actually knows these engines. A mate mentioned a place that does professional BMW engine repair in Musaffah and said they were straight with him about what needed fixing and what could wait, though I haven’t booked anything yet. Before I do, has anyone dealt with a similar ticking issue and did it turn out to be something simple or a proper engine job?
