Hi all. We are moving into a house in Hopkinton next month, coming out of a third floor walkup in the city, so this is a serious upgrade in space and a serious downgrade in convenience for whoever loads us out. Narrow street at the pickup end and a long driveway at the delivery end. I am trying to work out whether a company based closer to the city or one that works out this way is the better bet. Does that actually matter or am I overthinking it? Three bedrooms worth of furniture, plus a garage full of things I have not opened in years, and I would rather book once and get it right.

It matters a little, but not as much as you would think, since any decent company covers both ends of a forty minute route without blinking. What matters more is whether they have worked your pickup street before and already know they will need a smaller truck or a shuttle. Ask that specifically. We used Hopkinton movers who serve the whole metro area, and the crew turned up knowing the driveway was long, so they brought extra runners rather than discovering the problem at nine in the morning. If your move lands anywhere near marathon weekend, check the road closures first. That catches people out every single year.
